With Elma, Victoria and Lena - riders from Montenegro went from Spain to Portugal last year on the Compostela bike trails! We met after a 1,000 meter climb. The girls were going to the summit another 1,000 meters later!

Lots of climbing today but every second was worth it!

110km with 1,564 meters up above Kotor.

Felipe and Mariana are from Brazil, they have been traveling for a year! Enjoying Europe and the incredible balkan sights - I met them shortly before arriving in the Kotor, the medieval fortified town on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast. Nestled in a bay near the limestone cliffs of Mt. Lovćen that I would soon be climbing.

The steady uphill for some 20km at a light but constant 4 to 5% incline takes its toll. The laces up reminded me of Alpe D'huez. Hikers have another trail they take offering amazing views and sights to visit :check this out!

I started out close to the border of Croatia that I had crossed yesterday. I was mostly riding along the coast for a car-free experience and great views. At one point I was surprised when I saw firefighters at work as curious by-standers were looking at a burning boat. Curiously, just a few days ago I had met a firefighter from Macedonia that was specialized in securing cruise-ship welding operations.
