March 5, 2025: What a day! Up at 5am to take a picture of CANNES at the CASTRE in Le Suquet. Short but sweet with a few stops and cool encounters! After a pleasant tea in Cannes I was off to Antibes - I am told this was a Greek town before the Romans arrived. Antibes decided to side with Cesar while Marseilles went for Pompei - there is a monument with par of the Aqueduc that brought water to the city thanks to Cesar. "La flotte vient de loin" I am told! Just minutes later I met Aurore, an avid runner, trailer and commnunity manager for various businesses that she helps promote. Aurore was preparing her next race and I rode next to her as she jogged while we discussed the meaning of life :) Thanks for the pics Aurore!

Nice where I stopped at the fabulous "Café des Cyclistes"- they opened the door so I could bring my bike inside which is such a classy thing to do. Tomorrow they will unveil their new collection of cycling clothes!

After Nice it was time so start climbing and it was a long one - from sea level to about 550m.... I had been riding for quite a while already when Paul (from Scotland) quickly passed by me and slowed down so we could ride together to the top and to the next town of Èze. Big thanks Paul for the company and great talk! Several pro-riders passed by and all waved to Paul (must be a local celebrity!) - he could name them all, one was Colombian - was it Quintana?
