It was Damian at Vittoria 1938 Gelato Caffè in Verona who told me that I can't miss riding the Venezia Lagoon network on what is known as the E5 Ciclovia Isole di Venezia and I am glad I listened! I firts reached Venizia by riding a 10km trail and bridge until I boarded a ferry where I made my first encounter. Peter is a bike tour guide and operator with a large organization and 10 guides working for him. He was on his way to Lido, the island where I was also heading. There he will lead 17 cyclists from Texas! Passionate about cycling and people, Peter launched his business in 2008, right after the financial crisis. We had a fantastic talk and he gave me many tips for making the most of my day.

While bikes are not allowed in Venice... the Venice network of islands is ideal to explore by bike. You can hop from island to island by ferry and have full freedom to discover gems like Chioggia that people call the "little Venice", the seaside villages of Pellestrina, Malamocco and Lido de Venezia where I had Gnocchi and Gelato! Today I took six ferries as I hoped from one island to the next and while it makes for a long day it has been a day I will remember and definitely redo sometime soon!

I then bumped into Franco from Treviso whose daughters are playing volleyball today... allowing him to dedicate the entire Sunday for a 150km ride that started at 7h30 and should finish around 5pm. Franco likes long rides that start early and finish late. Go Franco!!!

I later met Alberto on a ferry and he noticed my titanium bike! He told me about the bike of his dreams to replace his Scott Gravel that was one of the first models of gravel bikes ever made. If all goes well it should be a Canyon... He strongly suggested I should try riding tubeless for better confort :)

It was an incredible but long day... I arrived in the dark. I started around 8 and finished around 8pm... after having dinner on the way. The wait for the ferries delayed me quite a bit but I wanted to do the full tour and I have no regrets!
